We recently had dinner at the Spanish River Grill after hearing great things about it from some friends. Although SRG is located in a shopping center, it has a very elegant feel inside the restaurant and the Spanish infused soundtrack helps to get you relaxed. We found the service friendly and efficient and our server was knowledgeable about the menu and the meal preparation.
We started of with a bottle of the house Sangria, which was rich, sweet, cool and refreshing… A very welcome relief on a hot day (I highly recommend it. We had the Calamari as an appetizer, which was good, but doesn’t come close to the best Calamari I’ve ever had which you can find at The Garlic in New Smyrna Beach.
I’m predictable and if there are fish tacos on the menu, I’m going to have them. I’ve eaten many a fish taco and I found these to be quite good, I really like that the sauces were served on the side. I find that often times the cabbage gets soggy when it’s left sitting in a prepared sauce for too long and these tacos had a really nice contrast between the crunchy cabbage and the firm fish. I would definitely have them again.
We had a really relaxing evening (Cas has the Ybor City Steak pictured above) and enjoyed the atmosphere and would recommend the restaurant to anyone looking for an adventure into latin cuisine. Who knows, you might even spend the evening sitting next to a former Orlando Magic player like we did.
